Accountant who glassed stranger in nightclub spared jail

Greg Stewart (24), who worked for KPMG, threw a glass at the back of his victim’s head and then punched him in the face during a disturbance in Mimosa nightclub.

Stewart, who was also found in possession of almost 1.5 grams of cannabis resin after being arrested, was given 240 hours of community service, banned from licensed premises for 12 months and ordered to pay £94.49 in compensation to his victim after pleading guilty to grave and criminal assault and possession of cannabis.

Advocate Julian Gollop, defending, said that the actions of his client, who was supported in court by his friends and family, were ‘out of character’.
