Owner Andrew Hosegood has applied to expand the store, which sits opposite the El Tico Beach Cantina, and add a walled courtyard to provide storage, teaching and changing space for the surf academy next door.
He said that following the success of the academy, which has helped produce a range of young, competition-winning riders, upgrades were needed for the facilities.
If approved, the plans would involve extending the surf shop to add a higher-roofed room that could display longboards and stand-up paddle boards more easily.
