His latest show, Kinky Boots – for which he is the associate director – won the Mastercard Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards on Sunday.
Mr Shaw – who is expecting his first child with wife, former Emmerdale actress Verity Rushworth – as at the star-studded ceremony at the London Opera House where it was also revealed that the show had won best costume design and best actor in a musical.
But this is not the first time that a show that Mr Shaw has been involved in has won an Olivier – he was an actor in Hairspray and an associate director for Legally Blonde, both of which won best new musical; and last year, Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, for which Mr Shaw is also the associate director, won best actress in a musical and best actress in a supporting role in a musical.
