Employment tribunal: New rules to cut costs

A new framework of rules has been introduced for the tribunal process, which includes various measures to help reduce costs and save time spent on cases.

One of the new rules will enable the tribunal to hear two or more claims that give rise to ‘common related issues’ at the same time.

Commenting on the new rule, Caroline Dutot, an advocate at Jersey-based law firm Central Chambers, said that it should allow related claims ‘to be dealt with more swiftly’, which would reduce legal costs.
