Durrells TV series is pitched perfectly, says widow Lee

The Durrells, set in 1935 and based on the author’s trilogy of Corfu memoirs, will air on ITV for the first time at 8 pm on Sunday.

The drama, written by Simon Nye, tells the story of the early life of Mr Durrell and his family and focuses on Mr Durrell’s mother, Louisa, who struggled with life in Britain after her husband died.

Her children – Larry, Leslie, Margo and Gerry – are finding it difficult, so she makes the decision to move the family to Corfu and the six episodes follow the Durrell family as they adjust to their new lives.
