Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel has signed a ministerial decision authorising the sale of the building, which has been unused since the bank’s closure in October 2014.

The bank decided to shut down the branch after customer numbers dropped by 30 per cent from 2010, at the same time as online and mobile transactions rose by 200 per cent.

The structure was originally built in 1771 and used as a permanent home for St Aubin’s market and there was also accommodation for the St Brelade fire engine and lock-up cells for prisoners.
