The crash involved a white Vauxhall van, driven by the man, and a Ford Focus carrying a 29-year-old woman and two children.
Police closed the road after being called at 4.55 pm, and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked over. No one else was injured.
The van was towed away by a recovery vehicle and the police had reopened the road by 7 pm.
