In total, external consultants were paid more than £1.5 million for ‘hospital feasibility’ studies during 2015, including £1.38 million which was paid to UK construction consultants Gleeds.
A breakdown of all the reports commissioned by the States during 2015 was released this week in response to a written question tabled by Deputy Tracey Vallois, who asked for an ‘up-to-date list’ of consultants engaged by the States and their costs.
Other than the costs of the hospital consultation, it revealed that the next highest amount paid on consultancy fees was £235,790 which was spent on a ‘waste transformation’ report carried out by ICS for the Infrastructure Department, while just over £146,188 was also spent on ‘Project Dahlia’ – a valuation of the services provided by telecoms companies JT and Airtel – which was carried out by financial advisors Duff and Phelps. A planned merger between the two operators was announced last year.
