UK farmer’s ‘immigrants’ remark sparks a walkout

Cambridgeshire farmer Robin Page, who writes for The Daily Telegraph, was answering the final question of the evening from environmentalist Mike Stentiford about how to control badger numbers.

He said that he would give them contraception hidden inside currants – and would do the same for immigrants, before chastising himself by saying ‘Naughty, naughty Robin, you should not have said that’, as he slapped himself twice on the wrist.

The talk was organised by Rural Jersey magazine, to which Mr Page – who is current chairman of the Countryside Restoration Trust and is due to appear in that capacity on BBC Countryfile this Sunday – is a contributor, and his visit to the Island was sponsored by the Howard Davis Farm Trust.
