In December 2014 the Education and Social Security departments launched Samarès Pathways centre to provide a variety of services for families, including pop-in and play groups, parenting support groups and child health clinics.
The community centre, which is located in the old NSPCC building in Samarès Primary School, offers similar services to The Bridge in St Helier, which is partly supported by the Education Department.
Speaking at an Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel hearing on Monday, Education Minister Rod Bryans said that his department was now looking at finding a location for another similar base in the west of the Island.
