Dogs killed in rescue home blaze

Firefighters and paramedics along with vets and the owners battled to save the animals after the blaze swept through the kitchen at Jersey Rescue Dogs – an organisation which rescues, fosters and rehomes dogs from the UK and Ireland and helps to rehome local dogs – and sent smoke pouring through the rest of the property.

Two lurchers called Mylo and Ellie and a greyhound named Elvis died at the scene, while another lurcher, named Lily, died a short time later and three other dogs were still being treated by vets this morning.

Owner Alison Le Feuvre, who had just returned from re-homing a dog when she discovered the fire, said she has been left ‘devastated’, but praised those at the scene for battling to save the animals.
