Senator will not take part in hospital site debate

States Members are next week due to vote on St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft’s proposal to remove the park from the list of possible hospital sites – a hugely controversial topic that has sparked much public debate in recent weeks.

However, Senator Cameron – a GP who came sixth in the Senatorial poll in 2014 after standing on a healthcare platform – said she was confident that there would be enough public opposition to rule the green space out of contention and has instead chosen to attend the workshop, which has been set up by the president of the British Medical Association.

She emailed her Chamber colleagues yesterday to let them know she would not be present at next week’s meeting of the States Assembly, despite the fact that the workshop is not official States business.
