Fire safety training for honorary police?

Jersey Fire and Rescue Services chief Mark James says that a scheme could be in place in the coming months to provide basic training to officers, such as fire detector fitting and emergency escape planning.

Mr James has already met with the Assistant Home Affairs Minister Deidre Mezbourian and the Committee of Constables and after receiving a largely positive response, he is due to meet with the parishes on an individual basis to discuss plans further.

The plan has also received the backing of Hugh Raymond, head of the Honorary Police Association, who says it could help save lives.
