Oldest pub in Jersey gets a modern-day makeover

Plans for the Foresters Arms in Route de la Haule in St Peter were approved in September, and developers are due to turn the adjoining property, Martello House, into a five-bedroom guesthouse while also updating the former drinking establishment to create a new pub and restaurant.

It is thought that the Foresters Arms, a grade four listed building which called last orders almost two years ago, has one of the oldest pub licences in the Channel Islands, dating from about 1717, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
