VIDEO: Anniversary transformation for JEP car

Previously part of the all-white JEP fleet, this particular vehicle has been given a makeover with the assistance of vehicle wrapping experts Signtech.

Working to a template for the Ford Ka provided by Signtech, JEP art department manager Brian McKenzie took a selection of JEP front pages from over the 125 years and created the image.

JEP marketing manager Lorenzo Nardone said: ‘Signtech has helped us to find novel and interesting ways to present images from our extensive archive, such as the St Helier Street Gallery where pictures from yesteryear have been placed so that people in town can compare the old view with what is now in front of their eyes.

‘We are grateful to Sean and the staff at Signtech for also giving us the opportunity to put a small selection of our thousands of front pages over the 125 years on one of our JEP fleet cars.

‘It looks very impressive.’

How does it work?

Wraps use specially designed vinyls with adhesive systems created specifically for vehicle application, which come in a wide variety of styles and finishes.

With a choice of matt, satin and gloss finishes as well as carbon-fibre, chrome and more, the possibilities for effect are endless.

Vehicle wrapping can also be produced using bespoke printed designs, such as photos, images, logo and brand elements to help your business brand to stand out.

What are the advantages?

Wrapping protects your original paintwork, it involves no spraying, it can be removed if you wish to sell the vehicle or change the look, wrapping offers limitless options in style and design, and it is available for any make of vehicle.

Simply pop in to the Signtech showroom, browse through the colour ranges and discuss design options with one of the sales staff, then relax and visualise – your vehicle wrapper at Signtech will do the rest.

What is the process?

Once you’ve chosen the material and confirmed the design, simply drop the vehicle off and Signtech will place it in their vehicle bay, which is a heated, covered and dust-free environment.

3M-trained staff will prepare the vehicle, which can involve stripping the rubbers, lights and thoroughly cleaning the vehicle to manufacturer standards.

Once cleaned, the vehicle bay is brought up to a certain heat, and that’s when the magic happens.

The material is applied dry and, at times where needed, pre-stretched with heaters before application.

No knives or blades are used during the process, so there will be no marks left on the vehicle.

A high-quality wrap can take anything from 15 hours to a week, subject to the vehicle size and the application needed.

When complete, the car rolls out looking unique, bespoke to your style with a finish that paint will find hard to match.

Underneath the wrap, your original paintwork is protected should the time come to sell it or change the look.

Even if you don’t want to change the colour of your vehicle but would still like the protection, there are materials available in a clear finish to avoid those annoying stone chips, bird droppings and insects.

What about after-care?

Signtech also offers after-care products for your graphics and wraps to keep the material looking as good as the day you picked it up.
