The main roll-on,roll-off freight carrying vessel is in dry dock in Falmouth and is not expected to return to sailing until 26 August at the earliest after she hit the sea bed approaching St Peter Port last week.

Andy Cook, of Channel Island Lines, believes that the problems currently being experienced by Condor Ferries show it is essential that there is an alternative freight operator plying the sea routes between Jersey and the UK.

And he revealed that Condor had not asked Channel Island Lines to help out by carrying any freight on its ship Huelin Dispatch from Southampton.
