Political reformers condemn Chief Minister’s ‘power grab’

And there was general, though not universal, support for the stance being adopted by Reform Jersey.

Next week the States are due to debate a proposition that, if accepted, will give the Chief Minister the power to hire, fire and shuffle ministers. It has been lodged by Chief Minister Ian Gorst following a machinery of government review.

It also includes a motion that members of the Council of Ministers will in future have to abide by the convention of collective responsibility.
