Medical records to be stored on centralised system

The scheme – which patients can choose whether to opt in or out of – will enable medical records to be accessed by other GPs when patients visit a different surgery or the Out of Hours Service.

Dr Nigel Minihane, chairman of the Primary Care Body which represents all Jersey GPs, said the scheme would reduce the risk of incorrect diagnosis or prescriptions but stressed that records would remain confidential and secure.
