Preserving a piece of history

The rear of the building will be replaced with new offices and a restaurant, but the historic façade, which became a symbol of the Island’s Liberation in 1945, will be preserved and refurbished.

Developers Comprop have said that the building was significant to Jersey’s history and the development would pay tribute to that fact.

According to a report by the planning department, the original building is said to have been built between 1825 and 1830.
