Official: Why food costs so much more in Jersey

The Island's competition authority found that shopping for a 'real life' basket of basic foodstuffs was 32 per cent cheaper in the UK than in Jersey.

But when taxes and duties were stripped out, the cheapest price for the basket was at least 50% more in Jersey.
