Aurigny planes will no longer fly to Guernsey

The two carriers plan to use a Blue Islands plane on the route – initially for two years – with Aurigny providing the ground crew to service the aircraft.

A spokesman for Blue Islands said that there would not be any job losses at the airline as a result of the decision, and Aurigny said that job losses were unlikely.

Under the plan, Aurigny will pay Blue Islands for a fixed number of seats on every flight and the carriers will sell seats to customers independently.

The firms received approval for the codesharing agreement after successfully appealing to the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities for an exemption to the islands’ competition rules.
