We're devastated by this sentence

News | Published:

THE families of three girls sexually abused by a former honorary policeman say they are appalled by his 2½-year prison sentence.

In a statement released following the jailing by the Royal Court yesterday of Ralph Cyril Mauger (77), they said that they felt let down by the Jersey justice system and warned their experience of going through the horror of a trial would put other victims off coming forward.

The former Grouville Centenier and prominent Variety children's charity fundraiser was found guilty at an Assize trial in December of five counts of indecent assault spanning a seven- to eight-year period. He was acquitted of three other charges.
