St Helier shops close, laying part of blame on economy

Riva Menswear, in West’s Centre, has ceased trading after 34 years, Founder Vince Vasilliou said that he was very sad to be closing after so many years.

Mr Vasilliou (69) said: ‘It is very, very difficult. It has been difficult for several years. Business has declined year in year out for the past six years. My takings have dropped and dropped and dropped.’

Nearby board-sport shop Earth, Wind and Water, in Halkett Place, will also close on 1 February after more than 20 years.
