Five-year jail term after day time street attack
A violent criminal who slashed a man in the face with a knife during a day time street attack in St Helier has been jailed for five years.
Michael Calvert sparked an armed police operation in town after chasing his victim down Bond Street and repeatedly slashing his face with a seven inch blade in front of shocked office workers.
The 34-year-old unemployed Liverpudlian was yesterday jailed by the Royal Court for four and a half years for affray and a further six months for trying to escape during an earlier Magistrate's Court hearing.
