Others joined in the tradition of ringing the bells in the churches of St Ouen, St Mary and St Peter between noon on Christmas Eve to midnight on Christmas Day.

It is believed that the three parishes were the first to be freed from French Occupation in 1468 and the bell ringing tradition began to celebrate their freedom.

In more recent years, a walk has also been organised and this year the group, led by historian Frank Falle, set off at 9.15 am calling in at the two other churches to ring the bells and raise money for the Variety Club.
