Road to a happy marriage

ONE couple are so keen to take part in the Gallery Rally to Barcelona that they have postponed their wedding.

Sonia Scott and Mark Neal were originally intending to get married on 25 April but they delayed it for two months so that they could spend their honeymoon on the rally.

They are now getting married the day before the rally starts on 26 June and their honeymoon will start with true marriage testing material – four days of map reading, following clues and seeking information.

Miss Scott said: ‘Our wedding was originally planned for 25 April, but we decided to postpone it to coincide with the rally.

‘We are very excited – not only will it be a very special and memorable honeymoon, we will also be raising money for an extremely good cause.

‘Our fund-raising sponsorship, under our team name Fairline, Channel Islands is being raised through Fairline, clients, family and friends.

‘Pledges have so far been very generous and we are optimistic that we will raise lots of money for Jersey Hospice Care.’

There are still places left on this year’s Gallery Rally to Barcelona, which aims to raise £45,000 for Jersey Hospice Care.

The rally-style treasure hunt, which sets off from outside The Royal Yacht Hotel on 26 June, follows a route through beautiful French countryside onto a hair-raising ride over the Pyrenees with a finish in five-star splendour at Barcelona. The event is run in association with Gallery Magazine and is sponsored by Chartered Accountancy firm, Moore Stephens and the Royal Yacht Hotel.

Couples can take part in any car whether it is a luxury limousine, a standard set of wheels, a real racer or something more unusual.

Each day, competitors will be given a sheet of cryptic clues that they must solve to find out where they are going next. Car drivers will also need to find a piece of information in each location before they can move onto the next destination.

All the teams will have a chance to swap stories and adventures when they meet up each evening for dinner and an overnight stay in a designated hotel.

Each team of two must pay £1,095 to cover ferry, hotel and meal costs as well as raising a further £2,000 for Jersey Hospice Care. The charity’s fund-raising team is happy to help and support people with their fund-raising ideas and efforts.
