Brother and sister act lift bowls singles titles

FOR the second year running the Jersey Indoor Bowling Association's men's and women's Island championship trophies will be on show in the same household.

Jamie and Rachel MacDonald last weekend became the JIBA's first brother and sister to win the Island titles in the same year – just 12 months on from the successes of husband-and-wife winners Thomas and Lindsay Greechan.

Jamie defeated Lee Nixon 21-17 to win his second indoor singles crown while Rachel (18) defeated trophy-holder Lindsey Greechan 17-10 to take the women's honours for the first time.

It turned out to be an excellent weekend for Jamie too as he also won the Island pairs title with Thomas Greechan and the under-21 silverware after defeating Ross Davis 21-7. HSBC employee Jamie (21) said: 'It was a good weekend for Rachel and I and, obviously, we were both delighted.'
