DANIELLE LEERSON smashed two Island records at the Individual Athletics Championships last week at FB Fields.

The Year 8 Le Rocquier student knocked six seconds off the 800m record as she won in 2.26.0 min and lowered the 1500m record by over five seconds to win in 5.05.3 min.

Also in this age group, Molly Jéhan had notable wins in the hurdles and 200m and came second in the 100m, shot putt, long jump and high jump.

For the boys, Hugo Barette was unstoppable as he won the hurdles, 200m, 400m, long jump, high jump and triple jump. Tom Morgan won the 100m and took four top-three places overall, while Marc Alner took five.

In the girls’ Year 7 events Tessa Letherbarrow secured wins in the 70m hurdles and high jump events. Lia Eversfield, who won the long jump and took second in the hurdles and 200m, also looked strong.

Ollie Terry was in formidable form as he won the hurdles, 400m, 800m and 1500m and finished second in the 200m. Also impressive was Zach Boakye-Yiadom, who won the 100m and 200m sprints and was runner-up in the javelin and high jump.

In Year 9, Ciara Giles won the hurdles, 100m and 200m and finished third in the discus. There was also a good showing from Olivia Ward in the shot (first), long jump (second) and 1500m (third), while Sophie Bashforth won the 1500m and was second in the 800m.

Matt Rondel took three wins in this age-group (100m, 200m and high jump) while Jamie Mourant won the long jump and triple jump and finished third in the 100m.
