The brand-new www.jersey.com site went online at the beginning of this month, but has since had to be pulled.
It was found that the section which dealt with bookings ran very slowly when several people were trying to use it.
The race is now on to fix it before a major nationwide TV advertising campaign starts on Boxing Day.
An e-mail sent yesterday by Tour-ism to its ‘industry partners’, who advertise on the site, said: ‘The current position is that we are maintaining the old site while further work is being undertaken to ensure the quality and functionality of the new. When we are totally confident in all operational aspects, the new site will be introduced.
