Vandals spoil town statues

The action has caused great upset and disappointment to the group of residents who raised £180,000 in 2001 to have the statues built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the World Jersey Cattle Bureau.

Derrick Frigot, president of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, said that the appeal organisers made a conscious decision for the statues of the cattle to be placed at ground level so that children and adults could touch and climb on them.

‘This must be the most popular statue in the Island, with children and adults sitting on the models to have their photographs taken and enjoy the exhibit,’ he said.
