Ambition ‘is key to the future of Waterfront’

But Jim Greaves, the architect behind the newly published Hopkins masterplan, says that ‘modern and ambitious’ is exactly what they are going for.

Hopkins say they want to provide Jersey with a financial district in the Esplanade quarter that will set it alongside London, Edinburgh and New York in terms of design. And they say that new offices, a hotel, public areas and parking would not be the only benefit of their scheme.

Lowering Route de la Libération in a

£45 million three-year project would also bridge the gap between new and old St Helier.

Mr Greaves was in the Island yesterday to explain the Hopkins masterplan to members of the public visiting the old Tourism office, where it is on display during the consultation period.
