Haute Vallée hit back

Trailing 1-0 to Grainville at Springfield, Haute Vall?e bounced back to win 3-2 despite having to defend hard at the finish as Grainville pressed for an equaliser.

Hugo De Freitas and Rui Andrade were on target for Grainville and Aaron Young (two) and Steven Pinglaux for Haute Vall?e.

It was Haute Vall?e’s third outright Year-10 cup final success putting them level with Victoria College in the series.

‘The boys showed great character to come from behind,’ said Haute Vall?e master Jon Southern.

‘It was a good team performance and I was pleased.

They prepared with a good training session last Friday and it paid off.

‘Luke Edmundson played in goal for the first time because regular Curtiss Hinault was injured and he performed excellently.

He was a calming influence on the players around him and he pulled off some outstanding saves.’

Grainville teacher James Scott said: ‘After a slow start we settled down following our opening goal but a couple of defensive errors let Haute Vall?e back in to lead 2-1.

‘After going 3-1 down we came back with another goal and we did everything but score again in the final minutes to take the game to extra time.’

Grainville were well-served by midfielders Jake Baker and Jamie Bowkett and central defender Regan Russell while Pakawun Follon, in midfield and Clayton Romeril, in central defence, impressed for Haute Vall?e.
