More and more Islanders are now so large that two crews are needed to lift them – and that can mean that there is no emergency paramedic cover for the rest of the Island.
The problem is particularly bad at night, when only two ambulance crews are on duty and it is more likely that patients will have to be carried downstairs to vehicles.
