The two-storey St Anna School opened in mid 2005 after financial help from Jersey and Guernsey. As the number of pupils increased to its present 300, the need for an extension was identified and a third floor has been built this summer, as a result of a £20,000 grant from the Jersey’s Overseas Aid Commission, matched by a similar amount raised by the Jersey Evangelical Alliance. The work party, made up of team leader Dave Ellis, his wife Betty and seven members of the Jersey Community Church, are now going to help local workers complete the internal work, electrical work, painting and decorating. Jersey volunteers have been supporting the Indian charity Eternal Word Ministries for several years since its foundation in 1989 by John Rajiah who began looking after five orphaned children living in a mud hut.
