The Global Financial Centres Index was first published in March this year by the City of London ‘to evaluate the competitiveness of finance centres worldwide’, and was further updated last month.
But Geoff Cook says the statistics have been gathered from an online opinion poll and are ‘a bit of a lottery’.
He has asked to meet the organisers to find out more about how the process has been conducted.
