Of the 15 records that were set, at a very high standard meet, seven went to Jersey.

BADMINTON – Bignell takes four: Matthew Bignell won four titles at the JBA Credit Suisse Junior Closed tournament – the Under-15 singles, U15 boys’ doubles with Richard Street, and both the U15 and U17 mixed doubles with Emily Temple-Redshaw.

Natasha Hutchings won three titles picking up both the U15 and U17 singles and also the U15 doubles with Caroline Bignell.

VOLLEYBALL – League openers: The first matches of the Insurance Corporation JVA League were played yesterday and 2e2 Tigers secured a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) win over Gunsite Juniors in the ladies’ league.

IC Jets also won, beating Jackson Fox Panthers 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-4, 17-25, 15-9).

In the men’s league, Pentagon Red Hot Tomatoes beat Island Ladies 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-11) and JVA bt Walkers Sandkickers 3-1 (21-25, 27-25, 25-16, 25-19).

HOCKEY – Champions draw: JHA Investec Women’s Div I champions RWB drew 1-1 with Nomads yesterday at Claremont Field.

Lisa Phillips put Nomads ahead before RWB’s Sarah Heelis replied to rescue some points.

Other weekend hockey: Jersey ladies’ veterans lost 2-1 to Guernsey on Saturday in their inter-insular.

Investec league results: men’s div I: Hautlieu 4; OV Convicts 2.

Ladies’ Div I: Jersey ladies’ 1sts 2; Caesareans 2.

MOTOR SPORT – Renouf Cup: Lee Rogan won the Adult A class to lift the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club Renouf Cup for motorcycle trials yesterday.

Daniel Jeanne earned his first win in his first year in the adult class, securing victory in the Adult B+ event.

Other winners – Junior D: Kealan Bisson; Junior C: Mathew Harrison; Junior B: Richard VIbert; Junior A: Adam Le Cheminant; Adult C: Trevor Daghorn; Adult B: John Renouf.

SHOOTING – Blake Memorial: The combined efforts of Michael Turner, Lane Euston and Maurice Saunders won the Modern and Military Arms Association’s G Blake Memorial Cup on Saturday with a total score of 276.

Le Rendu on top: Dave Le Rendu was High Gun and winner of Class A in Lecq Clay Target Club’s 50 Bird Sporting yesterday with 47 ex 50.

Richard Le Brun was second in that class with 44 and Shaun Roberts third on 41.

Bourne to win: Brian Bourne was High Gun in yesterday’s Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club 50 Bird Sporting with 47 ex 50.

William Coom and Chris L’Amy shared the A Class honours with 45; Ross Boydens won the B Class with 45; Fernando Carvalho won the C Class with 37 and Sid Clements was top veteran with 22.

GOLF – Walters retains title: Paul Walters secured a 1 up victory over the recent Island Foursomes scratch winner Chris Huelin to retain the Jersey Western Golf Club Championship.

In the handicap championship Rab Palmer beat Mark Vowden 3&2.

Splash for Cash: Gloria Paradiso, 6 hcp, won the ladies’ event at the Les Mielles GC Splash for Cash charity event, with 41 points and Stan Irvine, 16 hcp, won the men’s event with 45 pts.

Richard Cadoret, Stan Irvine, Steven Irvine and Derek Wood formed ‘Los Banditos’ to win the team event with 148 points.

Sharkey attacks: Tim Sharkey, 17 handicap, won the Royal Jersey Golf Club AG Le Couillard trophy on Saturday with a net 59.

Tom Muir, 16 hcp, took second on 64 and Matthew Vincent, 3 hcp, was third on 65.

Thomson pinches win: Alex Thomson won St Clement Golf Club’s VA Jarret Eclectic yesterday with a net 24.

A very close second was Ally Forrest with a net 24.5.

Straiton success: Joe Straiton, 10 hcp, won the Demi Golf Society October Monthly Medal on Saturday with a net 61 at St Clement’s GC.

Kenny Mitchell, 6 hcp, was second on 62 and George de Sousa, 15 hcp, third on 63.

McNamara impresses: Dean McNamara, 17 hcp, won yesterday’s Les Ormes GC Walker Cup Trophy with an impressive net 59.

Andrew Macdonald, 17 hcp, was second on 61 and John Bataille third on 64.

Grouville Bowl: Martin Le Quelenec, 21 hcp, won the Samares Golf Society Grouville Bowl yesterday with a net 65.

Loftur Loftsson, 11 hcp, was second on 66 and Tom Brown, 7 hcp, third on 67.
