In the first round of qualifying, Francesca Dubras came up against Danice Shackleford but lost to the American 6-1, 6-3, and Kirsten McArthur, who had a bye into the second round, faced Katharina Brown (nationally ranked 34 and world ranked 807) but lost 6-1, 6-0.
Sarah Jones also progressed to the second round after first round opponent Nicola Mooney withdrew during the match due to illness.
Jones then took on Germany’s Madlen Kadur (world ranked 496) but lost 6-2, 6-2.
The first round of the men’s $15,000 event gets under way today with matches starting at Les Ormes from 10 am.
Britain’s Miles Kasiri takes on fellow countryman Ian Flanagan in the first match on court one while top seed Andreas Beck of Germany faces Alexander Slabinsky (GBR) on court three.
Later in the day qualifier David Rice, who has faced disciplinary action with the LTA for breach of contract recently, takes on the third seed, and fellow Brit, Joshua Goodall.
The final round of women’s qualifying will also be played today with men’s doubles action the last matches on court.
Jersey’s Jordan Roberts and Rory Topping pair up to take on Massimo Dell’Acqua and Stefano Ianni of Italy.
