The 23-year-old assistant professional at the Burnham Beeches Golf Club finished his round in spectacular fashion, eagle, birdie, eagle, birdie for a magnificent ten-under-par round of 60.

Elliott said: ‘It was quite unbelievable over the last few holes and without doubt that it is the best finish I have ever had.

‘I’ve had a couple of course records before but never anything as low as 60.

I missed only two greens in regulation and never made a bogey.’ Elliott.

a first-time visitor to Jersey, was three-under-par at the turn after birdies at the first, second and seventh holes.

He picked up another at the par-5 twelfth before driving the 252-yard par-4 15th to within five feet where he gained his first eagle.

A 15-foot birdie was secured at the 16th and then a similar putt gave him his second eagle at the 265-yard par-4 17th.

A birdie-2 at the last meant a six-under-par last four holes – all in twos – to lead the competition by two strokes from Chelsfield Lakes’ Gavin Lingard, whose 62 equalled the previous course record.

Jersey pros Adam Jones and Lynne Cummins recorded rounds of 68 and 72 respectively.

The leading team in the Pro-Am are Les Mielles captain Ian Parkin, his wife Trish and Herbie Jennett with a score of -20.
