Wanyoike returns for Jersey Marathon

Wanyoike has become the world’s finest sight-impaired runner and last year he and his guide proved to be highly popular with the crowd, particularly the local Kenyan community, as they finished second in the race in 2 hr 52 min 05 sec.

The bank’s chief executive, Alison McFayden, said ‘Their time is extremely limited yet they are extraordinarily keen to take part again in our Island event.

This is a great message for tourism and Islanders.’ Andrew Green, chairman of Headway Jersey, associate event organisers, added: ‘Henry is particularly inspirational for our members as he became blind due to a brain injury.

He has overcome his disability helping to raise awareness for Seeing is Believing one of the two charities that we hope runners will raise sponsorship for.’
