St Helier was presented with the Silver Gilt Achievement Award for its transformation of the Waterfront area and for its ‘impressive quality of plants’. Grouville also won a second award for demonstrating the best floral displays throughout its entry. The Constable of Grouville, Dan Murphy, who was at the ceremony in Coventry yesterday, said: ‘It is the first time that Grouville entered the awards and parishioners put an enormous amount of community effort into it. We had a huge amount of support. The co-ordinator, Betty Hambly, who was here with me, organised 150 people to clean up the lanes for the competition. We were gobsmacked when we won the best floral display too – it was the icing on the cake.’ Committee chairman Bernard Rebours and co-ordinator John Le Maistre were also there to pick up the award.
