Hospice lottery to be drawn on TV

Hospice lottery to be drawn on TV

The organisers of the Jersey Hospice £1 million lottery have brought the draw forward a day to Friday 21 September to enable it to be broadcast as part of Channel Report. It was originally scheduled for the following night at the Jersey Hospice Ball at the Hotel de France but will now take place at the Grand Jersey and be drawn by singer Nerina Pallot, TV presenter Gloria Hunniford, Mr Battle Kyran Bracken and his fellow Dancing on Ice contestant Clare Buckfield. The lottery was a sell-out within days of the £300 tickets going on sale, and the organisers wanted as many people with tickets as possible to be able to see it drawn live. Fund-raising chairman Richard Harwood, whose idea it was to stage the lottery, said: ‘We were overwhelmed by the public’s interest in the lottery, which sold out in less than a fortnight, and we felt that it was important to reflect this interest in how the draw was staged. Thanks to the Grand Jersey and Channel Television, the thousands of Islanders who have bought a ticket – either individually or as part of a syndicate – will be able to take part in the excitement of the lottery numbers being drawn live.’
