JT adopts brand for overseas market

The States-owned utility company has launched JT Global to attract customers outside of the Channel Islands.

The group already does business as far afield as Canada and China and the new division will focus on the provision of new services such as remote mobile networks.

The remote networks product can be adapted to give mobile phone coverage on cruise ships, ferries, yachts and oil platforms as well as on land.

The new division will also market other products such as bulk text messaging services, advanced mobile roaming and secure data hosting.

Jersey Telecom said that bulk messaging performed particularly well last year and contributed significant revenues to its £14 million profit.
