Tropical storms and high waves battered the coast of the offshore tax haven, but an all-clear was issued yesterday afternoon and most people are returning to their homes today. All but 1,500 tourists had been evacuated from the islands, and many workers slept in their offices and bank buildings on Monday night. Trust fund manager Ben Le Sueur was one Islander working in Cayman, but his father, Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur, said today that the family were well. ‘He was fine. Dean passed well to the south, so they got storms rather than the hurricane,’ he said. ‘All services were getting back to normal when we spoke, and I would imagine that by now everything is back on track.’
