Channel Islands Air Search operates a maritime search and rescue aircraft, which costs around £80,000 a year to run. The charity is given £7,000 annually by Jersey Harbours, the same amount it gives to the RNLI. Both services are regularly called upon by the States-funded Jersey Coastguard, which co-ordinates rescues around the Island. This year the charity has received a new grant application form, which complies with the Code of Financial Directions drawn up under Article 34 for Public Finances (Jersey) Law 2005. It includes an eight-page ‘ticklist’ based on the UK Charity Commission’s Governance Code for the Voluntary and Community Sector.
