They are being scrapped to release resources for a new specialist unit set up to target persistent offenders following a recent rise in crime.
States police chief Graham Power said that the decision had been made in response to rising crime figures for the first half of 2004 which will soon be released.
After three years of falling crime rates, the number of crimes rose in the first half of this year.
However, some members of the Home Affairs Committee are extremely unhappy about the decision.
