Mervyn Le Masurier also believes firms could do more to encourage management potential within their workforce.

‘We need to view the Island as if it were Jersey Ltd,’ he said.

‘There are only 44,000 people in the entire workforce, so it could be viewed as one big company.

‘I see a large tranche of managers in the middle who cannot move forward because firms bring in people from the UK.

There is a lack of succession planning.
