Steve Hunt and other close friends who were at Hautlieu with the retired banker – who denies the charge – believe a photograph showing crowds protesting his innocence will be of great value to him when he makes another appeal against being held in custody. Mr Hunt, who is chairman of Crimestoppers, said that when he first learned that Mr Collenette was being held on a major drugs charge he knew immediately it was impossible that he had been involved in such a crime. He said: ‘It’s just not possible because Trevor has so much integrity. I do not even need to ask him if he is innocent, such is the belief I and his other school friends have in him.’ Mr Hunt is contacting the Constable of St Helier and the Bailiff’s office today for permission to stage the rally in the Royal Square.
