Crenan tames the conditions

Royal junior Crenan was out in a one-over-par 37 making birdie two at the fourth hole and back in 40.

He was the only player in the field of 40 not to shoot a double bogey or worse on his card of 77 for a net 72.

Newcomer Luke Trotter (14) from Les Mielles showed great potential and only lost on a countback of the last six holes.

He was out in 42 and back in a 11-over-par 45 to record his 72 off 15 handicap.

Royal’s Steven Anderson (13) finished third, also on net 72.

Playing off ten handicap, Anderson was one over par at the turn, but dropped seven shots on the 11th, 12th and 13th.

He steadied himself, however, to post a good score.

Seven players tied on nett 73 with La Moye’s Georgia Wallace, one of five girls in the field, taking fourth place.

Rhodes-bound players, Gyles Robin, Chris Young and Crenan, carded the lowest gross scores of the afternoon with 75, 76 and 77 respectively.
