A grand piano stood at the end of the breakwater for a classical concert with guests including the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, and Lady Bailhache. The dozens of Islanders who rose in the dark enjoyed some of the best weather of a sodden weekend. The musicians were local professio-nal string ensemble the Eclectic String Quartet and the pianist Christopher George, who performed a mixed programme of classical music against beautiful views of the distant coast of France. The Eclectic String Quartet was formed by violinists James Mews and Katy Parker, viola player Mariella Wildbur and cellist Emmanuelle Dumas, who are all actively involved in Music in Action – a charity that aims to raise money by organising musical events in the community.
