Luxury flats for Mount Bingham?

The parish of St Helier, which owns most of the land around South Hill and Mount Bingham, wants to enter into a partnership with the States to build high- quality homes in the area. Parish-owned land surrounds the Planning and Transport and Technical Services offices at South Hill on three sides and includes a playground, three bungalows and a number of fortifications. The Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, said: ‘The bungalows are not in the best state, but given the location, I imagine that the site value is considerable. This would be increased by the fact that this site borders States-owned land, so it would be worth more if it all linked together.’ The parish plan has been brought to the fore by a proposal announced by Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur last week to swap the land on Mount Bingham for the former La Pouquelaye School site, which the parish wants to develop as a youth and community centre.
